Step 1: Install the Standard Parts Administrator
- Put in the Solid Edge Product DVD (get the correct disk 64 bit or 32 bit)
- Browse to the disk using Windows Explorer (windows start button…computer or my computer…dvd…autostart.exe)
- When the Solid Edge Product Installation Window appears, click on Standard Parts Administrator
- Click next
- Accept the license agreement
- Enter your Username and Organization and click next
- Use the dropdown to select “This feature and all subfeatures will be installed on local hard drive” for both standard parts administrator program files and master
part files
- Click the change button and set the destination folder for standard parts (recommended to leave it as the default)
- Click next
- Click Install (this will take about a minute to install)
Step 2: Install the Machinery Library (requires Solid Edge Classic or Premium License)
- Put in the Standard Parts Libraries disk for ST3 and above (ST2 and below – it is on the same DVD as the Solid Edge Software)
- Browse to the disk using Windows Explorer (windows start button..computer or my computer…dvd…autostart.exe)
- When the Solid Edge Product Installation Window appears, click on Machinery Library
- Click Next
- Accept the License Agreement and click next
- Enter your Username and Organization and click next
- Use the dropdown to select “This feature and all subfeatures will be installed on local hard drive” for the standards that you would like. It is recommended not to install all standards unless you really need them as this will slow down performance.
- Click next
- Select your language and click next
- Click install (this will take about a minute)
- Click finish
Step 3: Install the Piping Library (optional – requires a license)
- Put in the Standard Parts Libraries disk for ST3 and above (ST2 and below – it is on the same DVD as the Solid Edge Software)
- Browse to the disk using Windows Explorer (windows start button…computer or my computer…dvd…autostart.exe)
- When the Solid Edge Product Installation Window appears, click on Piping Library
- Click Next
- Accept the License Agreement and click next
- Enter your Username and Organization and click next
- Use the dropdown to select “This feature and all subfeatures will be installed on local hard drive” for the standards that you would like. It is recommended not to install all standards unless you really need them as this will slow down performance.
- Click next
- Select your language and click next
- Click install (this will take about a minute)
Step 4: Check the configuration wizard
- Go to Windows Start…All Programs…Solid Edge ST3…Standard Parts…Configuration Wizard
- Make sure the destination file is the same as what you set in step 1
- Click save
- Click OK
Step 5: Register parts (populate) You may want to start this at the end of the day and
let it run overnight as it can take 12 hours if you are loading all the standards.
- Go to Windows Start…All Programs…Solid Edge ST3…Standard Parts…Administrator
- Click on Add Parts Icon or go to Database…Add parts
- When the Add Standard Parts box appears, click on the “add parts from existing multiple part files” radio button
- Click next
- Check the path to make sure it is correct and click ok
- This will take from 2 to 12 hours depending on your machine and how many parts and standards you are loading.
- When parts are added, it will remain in the Standard Parts Administrator Tool
