Modern permanent magnet linear synchronous motors (PMLSM) can be applied to a wide range of projects because of their high efficiency, thrust force density and acceleration. To ensure normal operation and maximum thrust force density, the thermal performance must be done at the design stage. Based on simulations using Simcenter MAGNETâ„¢ software, in this paper we have coupled an electromagnetic-thermal finite element analysis (FEA) of a 10-pole, 12-slot flat type iron core PMLSM. This motor was the first linear servo motor designed and produced in Bulgaria and was used as a main drive unit of a linear electromagnetic transportation system for the light industry
