Solid Edge – Splitting a Part

A common question we receive from our customers is about splitting a part. Splitting a part is a very useful tool in Solid Edge and is quick and easy to use.

1. Once you have created your sheet metal part, transition to the part environment.

2. You can offset a plane or use a body or surface to split the part. (The split command is found under the add body pull-down). Once you have split the part it should display graphically as 2 different colors as shown.

3. Open a blank sheet metal part, transition to the Ordered environment and then insert a part copy. Inside the menu that displays you should see the multiple design bodies you created during the split. You can now flatten the part or anything else you may need.
