Validating Products Using Measurements

NX CAD 12.0.2 introduced the ability to use a single measurement dialog box to verify distances, angles, and mass properties. This function helps capture associative measurements, giving the measurement of the minimum and maximum contact distance between assembly components.

Consolidation of the measurement commands started with the NX12.0.2 CAD release, which gave users the ability to select multiple objects in a sequence and quickly view the available measurements. This created a much faster working environment and testing ability than in previous versions of NX CAD. This improvement, in turn, speeds up product validation and keeps requirements on track for a successful cycle timeframe. Dynamically this function redefines the objects to measure and the output results to update in real time.

The Overall concept is to streamline all measurements commands, which in return will allow users to capture measurements more quickly and efficiently. Interactions become simpler and less daunting for the user behind the measurements. Once created, the process is super simple and can increase productivity.

In order to assess measurement results, visit the console tab. These measurements are displayed based on the method you use, which controls whether the selected objects are processed as: individual objects, pairs, or objects in a chain.

As in previous releases, you can create associative measurements. This is something you can turn on and off. You can pick and choose how you want to make your measurement preferences in the dialog box. You can access this from your settings group with various options like measurement units, number of decimal places, type of results displayed, annotation and validation colors.

New in this release is the ability to send results to an NX CAD console window. In an NX CAD session you can send all results to the console tab. This tab keeps all associative and non-associative measurements from a single NX session, allowing the user to refer to the information as needed. An additional benefit is to cut and paste data from the measurements previously used and quickly duplicate to other models.
